NOTE though that we do get front lumber support as standard with our half leather/cloth sports seats. I had thought this was only an option with full leather. Maybe they HAVE changed the seat design as raised by OnlyS4me in another thread..... any thoughts anyone ?

Note also that EB doesn't appear to be available with a white roof !!!!....... I'm sure that must be some kind of mistake......

Have you noted that we do not have the choice of interior trim eg magnesium? I was looking at the H/K system, so I hope this if just an oversight on their part.

Has anyone heard what the spec and colour of the pre-production cooper S will be? I.e.The Demo Coopers arriving early May at the dealers for test drives.

Yep, ALL black Panther interior even with blue lapis seats. Harmon Kardon system was not on the Aus specs sheets or the E-mail sent to BMW, off which I specced my car. Noted also was that Heated washer Jets/Rear view mirrors was an option on the feb 02 spec sheet in the Cooper S brochure but NOT on the E-mail that seems to be used for spec. This is qualified by what's listed on the web site...... all a bit weird. The MFSW stays at $700AU even thought we get a leather wheel as standard.

All a bit odd, but I guess different markets have different options etc.........

Mark told me that their Demo would be EB. But I think you will know before the rest of us snoopy, if history is anything to go by.......

A couple of other observations on the latest mini.com.au specs:

Appears to be no mention of air-conditioned glovebox - I'm starting to think this is vapourware. The car at the Melbourne show didn't have it either

Has anyone seen the cloth in the Satellite Cloth/Leather seats - Different to the Kaleido cloth design in the Cooper presumably?

No mention if pricing for clear light clusters yet (or other Accessory items such as front driving lights), though my dealer has estimated AUD720 for dealer fit of the clear lights, and presumably I get to keep the coloured lights too(?)

Finally, I wish they would update the colouriser to add an S version of the model car, plus the new S colours of course

The two Oz spec Demo's in Brisbane were sans the Glovebox too. I have been told that the glovebox will be part of the June production models, which is interesting as the Cooper's which have been sold to customers so far have NOT got it, even though it has been sold on the basis of the glovebox being part of the deal. Maybe it can be retro fitted later, although from photo's I've seen it's not simply a door over the parcel shelf.

Satellite Cloth/Leather seats don't know want they look like but here is picture of Satellite cloth/black panther cloth from the interior form.

I think it looks better with the magnesium door trim.

oh about the glovebox. Don't know a thing about the glovebox issue. But dealers reto fitting gloveboxes don't think so. I do want a glove box but could care if it was air con or not.

Has any one seem what the Lapis blue leather/satellite cloth upholsteries looks like?

Basil, at the Melbourne Motor Show, at the MINI 'S' cocktail party, we were given an up to date MINI COOPER, MINI COOPER S Australian Specifications March 2002 that closely resembles the MINI site details.

Obviously you have not received a copy of this, nor would have I, unless I had attended that particular night. As 'S' orderers, you would have thought that 1. we would have been emailed that the MINI site has been updated, 2. we should have received this brochure in the mail as well.

I have compared the brochure against the web site, and they are very close (only checked the 'S'). They match closely, and it appears that Parking Distance Control is not available for the 'S', H/K audio is not mentioned, nor is anything extra about the 'In-dash CD radio system with 4x20 watt output'. Let's hope that's RMS not the other sort.

The March Spec sheet mentions Pepper White as an option for the Cooper but not the 'S', with interior options.

The lack of interior colour/seat choices is a real worry. For BRG, Yellow and Chilli Red you can only have black on black. Not happy, Jan.

This is the piece of paper that I was given to order the options I wanted. None of the above is on it!!!.

Someone went to a great deal of expense printing the first glossy piece of paper inside the brochure. And most of it is bullsh*t !.

What it does do however is give me an "OUT", because BMW Australia cannot deliver on it's advertised specification list.

I don't think they know they're ass from their elbow, and I have serious doubts that my Cooper S originaly promised as "June 02" delivery and now "Sept/Oct 02" delivery will be met either.

Just one line of rubbish after the other. They've had $1000AU of my money since November 01, and they want another $1000AU before my order goes in.

The way they are going, I hope they are not holding their collective breaths. Life's way too short.......

Basil, the document that I am reading from is titled MINI COOPER MINI COOPER S Australian Specifications March 02. It is not the single white sheet that was inside the Cooper S brochure, it is a fold out sheet that is in the same style as the web site (white writing on black, orange boxes, etc.)

As I said I have not received a copy in the mail, they were handed out at the MMShow. It matches very closely with what is on the Oz web site.

So there, late Feb I was handed an options chart (just like yours), then March 1 I was handed another options chart (just like the web site). In that short space of time certain things are missing, which is really quite odd and disturbing. But this is the way with the love affair that we all have with Miss MINI.

I have no doubt that my MINI 'S' will appear much later than I could ever predict in my wildest dreams. As you know the 'S' was to be launched at the same time as the Cooper launch in Australia i.e. March. In the space of less than 12 months the launch date has slipped by at least 4 months now, and I don't really expect that to improve. This can only increase the internal pressure on waiting lists. My dealer used to say June/July (back in Nov01), now he talks Sep/Oct, and I interpret that as Jan03.

Maybe things will get better, but if this car is as good as it's supposed to be, then watch out when deliveries start. With pre-specced cars being offered, declined, then taken up by lower depositees how the hell are we supposed to know/check that the queue is still orderly. These guys will be busier than a one-armed wallpaper hanger, so don't expect to sit and chat with them.

Oooh dear, all this talk of delays scares me. So far my dealer has been fairly positive that we will be receiving a Jul/Aug delivery. He is so sure that he wants us to come down and spec it up this Saturday. He hasn't mentioned any extra money.

I hope we get a glove box. Just a couple more nights of aganising over options to go.......
