Sadly its not B******S.
You do need special gear to remove the tyre. If you have a look at your tyres they actually wrap OVER the rim to protect it from kerbing, so conventional machines can't remove it without wrecking the tyre.
However, you don't need to go to the dealer...

I know this because a nice man at ATS Bedford told me while he was repairing my tyre.
Apparently most ATS Euromaster centres have the facility. You can find your nearest centre using the link below.

Reckon on about £20 for the repair.

Cheers

Just to clarify...the guy at ATS Bedford said he could repair MINI runflats while he was repairing a tyre on my company car, not the MINI. However, he was very clear in stating they would and could do it! I'll try and dig out the lease company invoice. It should have the guys name on it.

Thanks,I took mine to a local company and they took the wheel off in anticipation of doing a repair ,only to find the screw hadn't gone all the way through ,.........so I'm in no doubt at all that these tyres can be repaired ,they do take some effort to get off and the guy in Kwik fit just couldnt be axxxxx.

Cheers
