Hi and welcome lunlun!! DS looks really bad with tinted windows! Please check my gallery to see some DS's with tinted widows. Others are with more dark tints and others with less. Regards SWorks

Afraid I bought my DS/B slightly used with aftermarket tint while still in California. Not crazy about it, but don't hate it either--I could go either way. In California, tinting the driver/passenger windows is illegal, so it's 3/5 of the way complete. Most tint tends to go to hell after four or five years (fades, bubbles, color-shift) so I'm probably going to remove it, but have to be mindful of the heat elements on the back glass. Anyway, check my gallery for my DS/B with tint, see what you think.

I have tint on my ds/ds mcs, as well. 35% gray tint. originally wanted 50%, but thought it was too light and didn't make a big enough difference. u should be able to check my gallery to see my tinted mcs. might even be able to compare to pics of my mcs without tint, earlier. I wanted to go light on the tint for several reasons. 1) really dark tint, like 5% limo tint is way too dark. been in a friend who had it all around and it made me a little claustrophobic. and at night, it can be pretty hard to see who's behind you. blacked out windows look a little more plastic to me... like how some small toy cars are done. 2) light tint looks just right to me.. like 50%-35%. Gives the window and overall space in the cockpit of the mini more "volume". a concept kind of hard to explain. if u really like and want to go dark, I wouldn't push the tint darker than 15%. for me, subtle works better. 3) tinting just the back 3 windows, also, doesn't look right to me. Makes the mini look a bit more like a van or something of the like. and besides, if i want tint for cooling the int. temps and sometimes making me slightly less visible to the public, I definitely want it closer around me.. so, I wanted tint all around (minus front window).. and to do this safely without getting busted by cops for tinting front windows, u have to go subtle and light.. so 50%-35% is just right. to the right eyes, u can definitely tell the mini is tinted all around. With a panoramic sunroof, the light, coming in also helps to make the inside not so dark and look like the windows aren't really tinted.... which is basically good for avoiding police. at night, u can see out the windows just fine and not worry about obscuring other vehicles in your view and way. if u can, i'd recommend u tint all around (minus the front). makes the whole tint job and overall look of you your car look more complete, i think. if u live in a really hot area, then i'd push more towards the darker tints... especially if u have the sunroof as it lets in a lot of heat during the day if it's really sunny.. so as much added shade u can get will help cool the interior which u will definitely want.. just wait till summer and you'll see what I mean. good luck on your choices. btw, does anyone have or seen that mirror type of tint on any new minis? i did consider it, but thought it looked to reflective and might come off as a little cheesy... maybe if it's a very light mirrored effect it might work better.. u know, make the glass look glassier?...

Yes, Yes, Yes. Get those windows tinted. I too have a dark silver "S". I had the windows done when i bought it. Not too sure what% tint, but it is the legal limit. Take a look at my galery, and see what you think. Regards Peter G |

Definetly get those windows tinted... LOOKs much much better... as for California and its tinting laws... I havent been bothered by the cops yet and I have 22% all around besides the front windshield... maybe its just my area... but I do get scared when I pass by one... especially last time when I ran a yellow Left arrow and it turned red on me half way and I was speeding thru it and there was a cop RIGHT there waiting at the light to go straight... I was sooo scared he would bust a U and get me... but thank goodness he didnt... Seems like cops are out to get the ricers more than stock MINIs or stock cars... so tint accordingly and as you wish... I would think 25% to 30% would be dark enough for a DS/B
