knocking noise

does any one know why i get a knocking noise when my car is just ticking over its a new cooper s. It also does it for ages once you have turned the car off. It seems to be about where the handbrake is, but under the car. I am going to take it back but just thought if any one has had similar.

I've got this too!

I'd assumed it was the 'cat' cooling down, or the 'cat' guard/protector as it comes from that part of the car - this also happened on a (dare i say it?!) volvo i used to (dare i say it?!) own!!!. Don't think it's anything to worry about, but if you do find out anything to the contrary - let me know!!

I also get this, sure it is nothing to worry about though, just the cat / exhaust contracting as it cools slightly. I know what you mean though it is very loud !!
