"S" Born Prematurely !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so f***ing high! My dealer called (TOWSON MINI) and said that my electric blue "S" will not be built on May 20. Instead it WAS built on March 25. They were able to give me a much earlier build (built?) date. Two freakin' months earlier...now I know what it feels like to get paroled early. So what are your guesses as to when I can drive her...early May? Late May? She's "awaiting shipping".
I know...but I just had to tell somebody who'd understand, and only you obsessed crazies will!

Electric Blue w/ Sport Package...first "S" delivered in Maryland (5/10/02)
I've been everywhere but the electric chair...I've seen everything but the wind.
If you know the VIN, Tsipple has shown in another thread that it is posible to track the car aboard a ship complete with estimated arrival dates.
My guess is that you'll have the car in late APRIL!!
+ 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather
+ 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed
I'm so jealous GREAT NEWS ...Obsessed who's Obsessed?
I've been drooooling over the EB demo at Checkered Flag MINI in Virginia Beach. Still waiting for the call (soon) so I can check the list(#7) for a pre-speced S. Love the EB but I want the Lux and Sport Pacs and those cars seem to be DS. Won some prizes at their Grand opening, concert tickets, a cool MINI chamois jacket, you can unzip the sleeves and use them to dry your car and a RC MINI.At least I get to drive that until my S shows up but it must have been an early build because it's rear wheel drive
Just remember ships are faster than they once wereCheers
Congrats Ken. What a great feeling! Not that it really matters to you since you are so excited at this point, but did the dealer mention why you get the car 2 months earlier than originally planned?
keep us updated, I assume we'll be seeing pics of your EB S very soon!
Yes, you can track the car through ocean shipping, assuming it's going on one of the Wallenius ships. (See my other post about that.)
Here's my car's timeline, for what it's worth:
March 13, 2002: assembled in Oxford
March 17, 2002: loaded aboard ship in Southampton
March 28, 2002: unloaded in New Jersey
March 28, 2002: checked into Vehicle Processing Center
April 5, 2002: estimated delivery (*)
So your car can go through pretty fast if everything goes right. I agree, late April is viable.
(*) Not a date cast in stone, by any means. The car was a day late from its estimate into the VPC, for example.

Timothy, assuming no problems or delays, from factory floor to the dealer, that is just a little over three weeks!!!
Incredible!
Looks even more like Ken might have his Cooper S by the end of this month as I had guessed earlier.

I going to go pout now - but in the meantime - when your S comes in Ken - HAVE A BLAST mate.
Congrats Ken! I had a 5/10 build date that was recently changed to 5/3. Love to get a call like you did! Once again congratulations and take some pics of the new addition when it gets here!!!
Wow. I was expecting 6 weeks. So that my early May build would be delivered in mid June. The possibility of a late may/early June deliver would be wonderful.
Thanks guys! I just woke up and checked the shipping log thing tsipple gave us, and guess what...the news just keeps rolling in. She's aborad the vessel TRINIDAD, loaded this morning at Southhampton at 10:34 (damn it's only 9:34 here). The MINIUSA Owners' Louhge doesn;t even have that in yet...still says "awaiting shipment". She's due to Baltimore on 4/25, exactly one month after production. I'll surely be driving her in very early May.

Oops, me again. I just re-read the shipping log, and she's not on board yet (so MINI USA is right). The TRINIDAD sails on 4/13, so she's in the port awaiting loading.
