Question MCS Works Supercharger discoloured! Why?

After less than 1000 km's, my Coopers Works plate under the bonnet has discoloured and has a black "burn" like mark on it? Anyone out there know why?

Search some threads for this - I think it's caused by the rubber seal that contacts with the bonnet to ensure a tight seal between the intercooler and the bonnet vent.

I've heard it comes off quite easily

No it's just the seal rubbing the plate as Grings said. Have a look here:

It's really easy to remove - I use BMW brake cleaner, just spray some onto a cloth and wipe. Easy as that. DO NOT spray it directly onto the intercooler as the cleaner is very flammable.

I have the same on my car, only 3300km old. I just cleaned it we some polish. Seemed to be the rubber seal as mentioned.
