| Wow! Glad the damage wasn't worse and nobody was injured. This roll-away problem with the handbrake applied has happened to quite a few MINI2 members. http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...handbrake+fail Most, if not all, of them seem to be in the UK where it is apparently not as common to leave a car in 1st or Reverse when parking it. Leaving a manual transmission car in gear when parking is usually part of driver education in the US. Of course, we've got a goofy clutch pedal interlock on all cars sold here (meaning the engine can't be started without first depressing the clutch pedal), so there are no concerns about car from jumping in gear as the starter is applied. Oh, and there was a recall on earlier RHD MINIs concerning a handbrake problem. http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...ndbrake+recall . + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed |

| Yeah, echo the "lucky" there Max, but exactly the same thing happened to me. I parked my car on my mum's drive, slight incline after a 100 mile journey and car rolled off drive onto and remained in the middle of the road. Lucky it was the middle of the night and my sister was coming to pick me up to go to the airport and she managed not to crash into it!! Question is....? Is there not a motion detector as part of the alarm kit? Should this have not reacted when the car decided to play Knightrider?! Jones! 210bhp JCW MINI Cooper S (S950) |
