Future engine changes on MCS?

Hi, super newbie here,

A friend had mentioned in passing that the Mini Cooper and S were going to get a redesigned engine direct from BMW. I have not been able to confirm any of this info online. Anyone know any more on this or is it bs?

I did search the forums without luck. I am currently debating a new car choice between the MCS and a Subaru WRX. This will be a new daily driver and Solo II toy

July this year.. modified (same) engine system, uprated power (170 from 163 hp). 2007 (most likely) completely new engine.

Thanks, I read earlier about the updates to the '05 model. I was more concerned about the completely new engine. Any details on it?

Thanks for this, Paul. From what I see, it doesn't seem like enough reasons to wait so long for the new engine.

Not now, also the new engine will come with a new body style, so if you wait, you might not like what you get.
