Left for dead at some traffic lights just now.

I was whizzing around Milton Keynes this evening, not speeding or being a fool, but having a "spirited" drive.

On my travels I shot past a Cooper S (Electric Blue), and carried on my way.

Fairly sharpish I was at some traffic lights, and what should pull along side me (eventually) but that same Cooper S.

I looked over at the driver, a lady in her 30s I'd say, just to smile and nod, but she was looking dead ahead.....

We waited at the lights, and as the lights ahead changed.... zooooooooooom she was gone, and I was left standing.

The reason, is that the lights she was looking at were for the NEXT JUNCTION on the roundabout!!

So as a bewildered nearby car and I sat waiting at the red lights, off she zoomed, showing me a clean set of heals.

I know that I can beat most cars off the line so I don't bother trying. I usually rev a bit to make them think I'm game then casually drive off.

I once left some boy racers for dead at lights, but at the next lights they shot off first & got flashed by a speed camera

It was bewildering at first, but when a car shot past from the right (as the lights there were still green) only a short while later, I thought how nasty that mistake could have been for her and another car.

Pretty funny... I guess she was so anxious to prove herself that she forgot to pay attention! Luck it did not result in disaster... And good thing you were paying attention and didn't just take off with her!

reminds me of something that happened when I first got my licence... I was stopped at a set of lights and some mates were in the car next to me, we were joking around and talking to each other, when we noticed the lights had already gone green, a moment later a semi trailer came belting through the lights that were red.... if we hadn't been distracted I probably wouldn't be here writing this.
