Part ?'s for those who know

What are the following?

A - airbox holding a restrictive air filter waiting a K&N replacement?

B - supercharger?

C - resonator?

D - CAT convertor?

E - final center muffler?

Thanks! Anything else anybody does not recognize?

i think "C" is the cat not a resonator. most manufacturers place the cat closer to the exhaust manifold because its easier to burn off the pollutants and its more efficient the hotter the gases are.

Pretty samll CAT. Would you not agree? I expected something bigger. I agree it is probably that. The routing of that exhaust looks like it might be fairly restrictive. Should open the aftermarket for some nice free flowing exhausts.

Exclamation

It's the cat surely...! If D was the cat it would be too cold to work properly and a "cat-back" exhaust for the Mini would consist of just that last turn on the S and just a chrome beer can on the Cooper..!!

Mini-madness should know that as they sell a cat back system. I'm sure $419 for a stainless exhaust does not include a new cat...

Talking Lets clarify

C=resonator (you can't see the cat in this picture but its imediatly before the resonator)

D=rear mufflers, 2 of them in this Cooper S picture.

The catalytic converter is hidden from view in your cutaway pic. It's located right on the exhaust manifold just after the four pipes merge together. I believe it is a single part - the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter. Should make replacing the cat tough and expensive, eh?

Mind you, with just a little 1.6 and running this hot, maybe it'll last the life of the car?
