Accelerator not smooth but somewhat "sticky"

Just bought a 2002 mini s and the accelerator is a bit sticky (not real smooth). Is this normal or a known problem? Thanks

The accelerator should be pretty smooth. The MINI has a drive by wire throttle so there is no throttle cable linked directly to the accelerator. The only thing that provides feedback is most likely a spring in the pedal. Check and make sure something isn't in the path of the pedal and bring it up with MINI if you can't find anything.

I think i remeber reading somthing similiar... there might be gunk stick behind the acceleator pedal... (*you'll get your hands dirty if you touch it*) reach behind there and you'll feel that there's a rod going from the pedal into the firewall... see if thats clean if not clean it with like silicon spray or somthing...

The dealer said this was a known problem with the original design of the pedal. They will replace the pedal with a new one.
