how to go about test driving?

hiya ppl,

I'm wondering if BMW/mini has let anyone on here have the Cooper-s for more then your average test drive, say a good couple of hours or so? so you fully get the chance to experience one without having a salesman watching your every move?

I personally haven't had any experience with bmw/mini but the old man in particular has bought many E36 M3 and M5 etc and is considered a valued customer. I'd really like to use this to my advantage and get my hands on a cooper s

I'm still trying to work out hwat colour i like!

My test drive went something like this:

Handed keys.

Told "go mad"

I did.

Bought one.

When I went for a test-drive the salesman came with me which was fine. He let me really let the car loose. This dealer has a route they take for the Mini test-drives. The route is full of elevation changes and S-curves. One of the residents on the route put a sign up that reads "Mini test-drivers Slow Down!"

When I test drove a Cooper S they just gave me the keys and let me go. However, when I test drove a Mercedes C-coupe with my wife, the salesman came along for the ride, which I found very distracting and particularly annoying. I think this kind of stuff is really up to the dealership and/or salesman.

Best thing to do is be straight and phone or visit the dealer telling them this is what you
want. If they can't provide try elsewhere. Be reasonable, the latest model is usually booked
up Saturdays for instance so be prepared to take one for a morning or afternoon during the
week. Most salesperson's will do their best to help you.

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs

well i asked about it and they said if i add the car to my insurance for the period i want the car for then they see no problem.hopefully should have it for next weekend
Even though im 99% certain it'll be one of the revised cooper-s i'm sure it'll drive like the the slightly older cooper-s i may eventually buy.
