Australia grinding metalic noise at idle

this is my first notice on this site as i have just picked up my 2002 MINI cooper S. just need some thoughts on a grinding noise at idle. I have taken it to the dealer who looked at it with some concern. The noise is definitley coming form around the pulley near the superccharger. Upon speaking to GOGADGET he said there has been some troubles with harmonic balancers. Anyone with similar experiences that could help?
