I have about a 2-3 week wait left on Alice. It will have the HK stereo in it along with the new IPOD set-up that works through the stereo and controls through the MFS. My question is how many preset buttons are on it? I've heard you can use 5 for the IPOD but how many are left after that? Many thanks. Can't wait to get her across the pond.
I have the same setup in my '05 MCS. There are 6 preset buttons on the headunit. As far as the iPod adapter...the first 5 presets would be used for your MINI playlists (MINI1, MINI2, etc.) and preset 6 is your entire iPod library.
The presets for the iPod are totally independent (i.e. have nothing to do with) the presets for your radio.
The radio when you get it will have 3 modes: Radio, CD, or CD Changer (i.e. iPod).
When you are in radio mode, you have 18 FM presets (3 FM bands with 6 presets each).
When you are in CD Changer mode (i.e. iPod mode) the 1-6 buttons function like they would if you had a CD changer attached, except that instead of selecting CDs 1-6 you are selecting your MINI playlists 1-5 or #6 is your whole library. All the iPod adapter does is fool your radio into thinking that a CD changer is attached, then it translates your CD changer controls into commands that the iPod can understand.
