Do I have an Alarm or not???

Hello All
first post !!
I bought a 2003 Mini Cooper S last week and am wondering if the "security system" as it is called in the manual is an alarm system or just remote door locking?
When I press the lock on the remote key the parking lights flash and the doors lock.
I'm not sure if any alarm is on or not??

If the tip of the wiper stalk is red, you probably have an alarm, if its silver you don't.

wiper stalk being the little stick thingy you move to turn the wipers on
