MCS brake feel

Hey all!
I have an 03 MCS and today was my first drive in snow in it so I wanted to see how it felt to brake hard enough to slide. The traction control was on and it felt like......well....crunching glass under my foot.I have had ABS brakes before but they never felt like these. Is this normal???

Hey Mullly, I am having this problem investigated at the moment (02 eb mcs), but they have told me its normal ABS.

I suggest you take it into your mini garage, and take them out on a test drive, because Its NOT normal ABS before anyone else suggests it is. It also is quite intermittant and can be heard by the passenger, It happens on heavier braking on surfaces such as grit/leaves/loose dirt/snow/ anything that will make you loose a little traction, even when a wheel hits a drain on braking.

The best way to demonstrate this problem is to drive in country lanes or where there are dirt backs on your side, get a tyre in there and brake hard, they will try and tell you its normal abs but it obviously isnt so keep on their back and keep me informed of what they discover, because it may help me.

Im going to ask to take out a demonstrator on the same road to see whether it happens on it too, and if it doesnt then I am going to get them to contact mini directly on my behalf.

Hope things go well.

Gotta agree with RedUn.
If you can feel the pulsing through the pedal then it's normal.
The 2 different MINIs I've hammered the brakes in felt the same.

As suggested though compare yours with others.

Its not ABS ! (not normal anyway).

Im really not trying to come across aggressive etc, but I have to say that unless you have experienced which I have then its very hard to understand what the problem is.

When this occurs it does feel like grinding glass, and this can be felt through the brake pedal, it is not the normal ABS feel, and passengers can hear it. It once happened to me when a cat darted across the road, the passengers were convinced that I had hit it because of the sound coming through the pedal, but we didnt even skid.

Again, I am sorry if it seems like I may be ranting, but I also would like to get this problem fixed, and have on several occasions talked about this on the board with no one having this problem.

Hopefully Mullys' dealers can find something mine cant, and we can archive the solution to this problem.
