Question 1st gear belt grinding-ish noise

When I let off the clutch into first sometimes (maybe every 10-20th time) I will hear a sorta-grinding noise but it sounds more like a belt grinding mixed with a high pitch whine. I'm giving the motor enough power...my wheels can be turned or straight..but its usually when the car is under a little stress..such as uphill or turning a sharp corner.
The MCS has 40k on it and is still under warranty. It has the DCS option.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!

sorry to say

Hey buddy,

Hate to say this...but your issue sounds like something I went through a few months ago. The fly wheel in my transmition failed, ultimately causing the entire transmition to have to be replaced. A ten day job...I was so upset that I called BMW canada and asked for a warranty extension or some sort of compensation to offset the obvious depreciation that this has caused me. I also have tried to get a knocking sound fixed in my steering column 4 or 5 times, and they cant figure it out. Bottom line is, sell the car before the repair or bite the bullet and get it fixed. I guess their is still a possibility it could be something else, but i doubt it.

Good luck,
Chet

Sorry to hear it

Mines happening every 3rd time now or so...its a two-hour drive down to the nearest dealer so I may just call MINI RoadSide Assistance and have them pay for it to be towed down. just have to find the time
