Albeit that most of the grass has already been mowed away before my feet by Brits, Ozzies an Americans, hear is my story of my first close encounter of the S-kind.
Just got back from my dealer. On my way to him I felt really nervous, comparable to the feeling I used to have going on school outings at primary school. OMG, how old am I!!! Are all those people saying I'm acting like a todler about this car right after all
Anyway, my dealer had a fully specced DS/black and a less specced EB/w with white S-lites The EB had the space clothing. Although it didn't look bad on the front seats, it really looks horrible in the back (at least IMHO). The DS had the lapis blue full leather, awesome that!!
The EB/w really looked stunning to me. A lot better than I'd expected. The DS/black didn't really do it to me, found it a bit too gloomy (again IMHO of course). This might be different with the white roof though. Gonna stick to the red though...probably....I think. On the other hand, tomorrow my second half is gonna have her first encounter (albeit not with great enthusiasm) with the EB and DS, so who knows.....
Finally the good man fired the EB up (after me asking him about twelve times ). It was in the showroom (which is now being evacuated because of the fumes ), so I could only hear it in rest. Still heard a nice ruffle though. None of the cars did have the parcel shelf grille.
So that's my story, I had to get it all out. I'm sure you'll understand
Really not sure about that. I know it's my favourite at the moment, though I'm also quite happy with the CR which is the favourite of Annemarie who really hates the blue (and don't you tell me to go for the DS as a compromise ). Also, as you know this is a company car and I already execeeded my budget. If I would change colour (the metalic colours cost another EUR 532) I'd have to re-open the negotiations, with the risk ending up in the same car as my boss which is a Toyota Picnic (the poor chap) .
So probably a definite answer tomorrow, will let you know.
If I would wanted a colour that bad, I would pay the extra 532 out of my own pocket. And it's a nice guesture towards your boss
Well, it's just my opinion (and it could work, I've done the same when I used to work for a company some years ago).
Well it's of course you're right to find the Cooper S excellent but till now I've driven twice a Cooper and today I testdrove the Cooper S. Conclusion: excellent steering and handling (no question about that), however I am not so convinced about the gearbox (feels a bit chunky) and the brakes were dissapointing
Then another point: performance. Well IMO it's isn't performance with a capital 'P'. It should be a fast car but doesn't feel fast, especially 30-50 or 50-70mph does not feel quick, part due to the not so good throttle respons. By the way my 'feelings' are confirmed by several numbers of elasticy measurements by different carmagazines
As expected the Cooper S has a very stiff suspension and with 17" a hard ride, to hard if you should ask me (but hey that's personal isnt'it?). Tip: maybe it's better to stay with 16 inch
