US Only: Would you like to see a "cheaper" JCW Package?
MINI USA requires you to purchase either the Sport Package ($1,400 or $1,900 with R98 wheels) or Checkmate Package ($2,200) if you want the JCW Package ($6,300).
MINI Germany includes the new 16" R94 wheels in their JCW Package.
MINI USA should offer the JCW Package stand-alone with an extra charge for choice of wheels:
Code:
$ 0 for 16" R94 Bridge-spoke
$ 600 for 17" R85 S-lite
$ 600 for 17" R91 5-spoke Bullet (convertible only)
$1,100 for 17" R98 Web-spoke
Where I would consider purchasing a 2006 MCS JCW if such a "stand-alone" package were available, I will NEVER pay for things I don't really want
Having just bought an 05 MCS, I'm not in the market for an 06 MCS, with or without the JCW package. But just to make sure, I assume you're asking about JCW installed at the factory. I thought dealers will gladly take your money for a JCW package, even if you don't have a Mini to install it on.
Oh, and I completely agree about not paying for what I don't want -- I would have bought the Sport package, but didn't want the 17" S-lite wheels, so ordered everything else a la carte. Well, almost everything -- I didn't buy stripes either.
It would nudge me closer to buying a JCW, but it wouldn't affect my ultimate decision (passing on the package). Now if they dropped the price for JCW a few grand......
I was considering the JCW factory package but they do not offer it with the 16" Bridgespoke wheels (which are no lightweights) and they want you to add either the Sport Package or the Checkmate Package.
I will not have 17" wheels made of lead and I will not buy things that I do not want. So I guess I'll have to give my money to some aftermarket suppliers.
It might have been nice to keep it all factory but not at those prices. Not for me. I am sure that there will be plenty of the factory JCW kits installed, just not on my car, thank you very much.

Have you compared the FINAL price of a JCW equipped MINI in USA, Germany, England, etc?
What about if you have the dealer add the JCW equipment - then you can choose EXACTLY what you want.

So, after lurking for a long time, and "building" my mini at Miniusa.com about once a month for around three years, my first post is a resounding yes - I am about to finally order my Mini. I am going to order a Mini Cooper S JCW. I want the enjoyment of the performance package, but am not a car guy. I don't have the time or talent to do after-market work on a car. Requiring the sports package doesn't phase me as I want this car to last a long time, and the added features that will contribute to safer driving make me happy for when my wife will be driving it.
I agree 100%, except I think the 16" Bridge Spokes go for a slight premium over the other 16" wheels and I would certainly be willing to pay the difference. I know several other people I Autocross with that feel the same way. Take away the 17" wheels and the $$$ packages and I would have ordered one at the first chance.

In Canada I was told by my dealer that I could get a JCS for my MCS auto for about 10.000.00 C . They buy it in pounds from the UK and install it in Vancouver. I declined because of the price
