Alignment question for Cooper S

Kind of weird. Noticed that my steering wheel seems to be slightly turned to the right when I'm going straight.

It is very subtle but it seems to be a new thing (wasn't there previously).

Car still tracks straight from what I can tell but on roads with a camber to drain off water it seems even more prominent.

Any ideas or similar situations?

Interesting. I haven't experienced this. Have you mentioned this to anyone at Schomp?

I'll be giving them a call tomorrow

And to all, I have no intention of starting some sort of "right pull" fiasco. Those who had the left pull with the Cooper have suffered enough

(It's not a pull just a crooked steering wheel)

Question speaking of alignments

waiting for my "S" to come in and in the mean time noticed that some models are equipped with dunlop 17" run flats. These have a tread life rating of 280 much better than the pirelli's which have 180.

Dealer said she would swapped tires out if availble ,but it would probally need a realignment.

Does this sound correct? alignment cost is about $130 plus labor changing tires.

Gary that sounds about right. I do have the Dunlops. They came with my car's sport package, but I had my dealer swap my runflats over from the S-lites to the R90 wheels. They charged me two hours labor for the job. BTW, I don't think my car was realigned, but it tracks dead straight.

thanks Dave.
wandering if the Dunlaps come with the sports package? or maybe they just put on what tire is availble to the assembly line at that time as long as it meets the basic specs i.e. 17" runflats...

That's the only item that wasn't specified in my sport combo and the dealer nor MINIusa could confirm what tires were going on. I had spec'd the all season run flats, but at this point (July 5 production) it's a moot point. Dealer says no problem, if it doesn't have the all seasons he'll put them on for me because my spec to him said "all season run flats".
Also, thankfully I did spec silver s-lites and they are standard anyway. I think I would puke if my S came throug with white wheel

Same boat here 7/5 but I failed to spec the type tire...maybe they will have dunlops on the line. we should be on the same ship maybe? Charleston will be my mini's port of entry.

My dealer says to date he's only seen the Pirellis come through on the Sport Package. If you go to the Pirelli sites and search out information on the Eufori@ tires, they highlight the fact that these tires were specified for the Mini.

I was concerned over the tread life on the performance tires. Is there any info on the Pirelli's having an abnormally bried tread life?

BruceK and I both got the Dunlops with our Pre-Spec dark silver MINI's with the sport package. We had no say in the matter, but I think we lucked out as far as the summer tires go.

I seem to remember the miniusa.com site giving the option of all-season or performance tires. It could be that the Pirelli are the performance with lower tread life and the dunlops are the all season.

None that I know of, except the tread rating of the tire is very low....180, in comparison my Honda's Michelins have a tread rating of 400 and I have 49000 on them now and another 20000 would be obtainable on those tires.
Pirelli's look like they may only last 10K to 20K depending on your driving habits. At $240 per tire I want more tread life than that.....
