cooper park lane delivery and stripes!

Hi all,

Firstly I'm really encouragedby allyour input about the cooper park lane.

However, I'm a bit clueless about buying a new car. When my dealer says week 44, does that mean that's when the car is ready for me to pick it up or that's when it's beginning production? She initally said that my car would be there on week 41 but it's been delayed because of the stripes.

Also, those pesky bonnet stripes. After hearing they were an option I phoned to try and get them taken off. She says that should be ok, but I'm just gonna see what I get. Does anyone know the official line about whether the stripes are standard or optional or what?!

cheers!

The only thing I know about the stripes is they should be factory fitted in October - because that is when my mums is due and the dealer said they should be ready by then at the latest.

The stripes are a free of charge extra, so you can choose if you want to have them or not..

I was talking to a lady today who has had her Park Lane a few days and she absolutely loves it - so however long it takes it's well worth the wait!

The bonnet stripes are an OPTIONAL extra at no cost, so you don't have to have them if you don't want them, but apparently there is some problem with availability so they may well be a retro fit for the first few PL's. Ordered my PL 06.08.05, have been told collection week 41 (second week October), fingers crossed! Good luck with yours.

collecting mine Monday.. at last, only a month late but allass no bonnet stripes yet. the stripes are free and fitted tho (at least when they have any) unless you ask for them not to be, not the other way around as I have seen posted on here in other threads.

I'll have to take a few pics and post them.. mainly from the rear for now

I was supposed to collect her on Thursday and was getting really excited but called dealer Wednesday to check they'd received insurance docs, and guess what no docs had turned up , same thing Thursday morning so called insurance company who insisted they had sent them and refused to fax copies over to dealer . No docs Friday, Saturday or this morning, insurance company have now agreed to send copy docs by 'Guaranteed Next Day' so crossed fingers collecting tomorrow.

Checked with dealer re stripes, no stripes, will chase up tomorrow and get him to order them and have them retro fitted.

WARNING for anyone looking for insurance don't use BMW Insurance if you want quick turnaround of docs (not to be confused with MINI Insurance, although don't know, may be same company ) They told me 3-5 days for receipt of docs, and talking to the dealer a lot of company's can turn docs around in 24 hours, but BMW insurance are notoriously slow, I organised my insurance 14.10.05, now 24.10.05 and no docs!

Bummer Don't you just love insurance companies!!!! <not> and they'll probably have the cheek to charge you for sending them too! ggrrrrrr
MIne charged £20 to change but kept the premium the same from my last Cooper and I had them send the docs to my home address, dealers are dizzy, and took them 30 mins early, they tax the car on site there. I think i telephoned my broker Thursday, got the bill for £20 Friday and the docs Saturday, collected Monday, not too bad for me

Good luck for tomorrow... enjoy

Thanks for the luck, it must have worked because I finally picked up PL Tuesday and very, very happy, she's beautiful and I can't stop smiling whenever I think about her Only problem I've had so far is finding excuses to look at/touch/drive her, and of course, as always, work gets in the way of enjoying myself.

Re. bonnet stripes - dealer gave me the choice of either waiting for PL stripes or them putting on standard stripes. I opted to wait for PL stripes, but he didn't know how long I'd have to wait, at the moment I'm not too worried as long as they turn up.

How are you enjoying your PL?, and do people wave at you, I've waved at loads of MINIS but only one waved back!

Aaaaahhhhhhh thanks, I'd wave back as well if only I could see as far as Manchester. December !!!!!!!, thats rubbish, especially when at least one (also from Manchester) has been spotted with stripes. Still as you say everything else is so fab that even though it's frustrating having to wait, it's at least made bearable by the wow factor everytime I see her waiting for me , keep me posted re your stripes, I'm just off to hassle my dealer a bit more, if I make enough of a nuisance of myself he might chase a little harder, well at least it's worth a try, happy MINIing
