Tell me about it.

I'm paranoid about the buggers - so much so i find mysef listening out for them . My cure - turn the radio / cd up LOUD so it drowns out the rattles.

I have found about 5 in various areas of the dash

My car is a month old and it's rattled & squeaked from day one. Dash, side windows and somewhere in the back. I guess at some point I will tell the dealer but I can't really face having to lose the car for a day and probably getting it back with more!

I've put it down to a feature Mini have built into the car to make it more authentic!

Mine's had a few rattles since day one, but it's far better than my old 2004. I'm going to take it into MINI soon as it's only dash rattles, and there is a kit available to cure these.

Remember, when you buy a MINI, the package comes with a little Gremlin that travel all over the car. Once you get to now him the noises go away. Meaning get used to it, the Gremlin need to break in also...

Crappy tho isnt it,

My latest mini adventure involves visiting the dealer, again , let one of their under-qualified gorillas loose on the interior to try and remedy the rattles....

.........oh yeah, and to fix the h/K speaker which they managed to blow last time it was in the dealerships cos one of their "technicians" must have been listening to his Abba album too loudly!!!

Mini Adventure my ****!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nope, they cost 10-11 grand or more by the end with a few options thrown in (I have a full costing for my 1999 classic somewhere and IIRC it's near enough £11000), not far off basic MINI Ones and Coopers - a lorra people forget that, particularly classic drivers intent on slagging off the New MINI.

If people want to spec a car up to the 16k level then that's their business but there's no anti-rattle option available as far as I know, although give them the chance and they'll try to charge extra for it

Look at it as a bit of classic Mini ambience thrown in for free and then you'll be happy

, just remembered when I first got my classic and there were a few squeeks and rattles - solved the dash one and a couple of others quite easily (tightening screws, new brackets etc.) but there was one noise from the right of the steering wheel that was doing my head in and I couldn't work out what it was. Spent ages under the dash and around the wheel trying to find it but to no avail until one day driving along I suddenly realised it was my voluminous key ring jangling and vibrating... doh!

Whn the original mini was launched in August 1959 it cost just under £500. The average annual wage back then (mainly agriculture, labour etc.) was £404 per year based on a 46 hour week. Most people these days work a 35 hour week which in 1959 would make a n annual salary of £307.

Using these parameters and the cost of a new Mini One, the average wage today would be around £18,000. I am not sure, but I think the average wage today is higher than that meaning that a new Mini today is proportionately cheaper than it was in 1959.

the average wage in the uk is 22k p.a

i took my car to my dealer today after it was booked in a couple of days ago to sort out the rattles. theyve put a foam thing in and the rattles in the back has stopped now , they even valeted my car . maybe i should just take it there when it needs cleaning, didnt charge for anything either which was a surprise i thought id have to pay for some sort of service charge. the dealer is sytner harold wood if you want to know.

mathaniel, go somewhere else. ive been to three different mini dealers for different things and they all seem really really friendly. much more than vauxhall and ford anyway.
