Why Oh Why - ARE DENTDEVILS GOOD for fixing dents on rear panel?

i cannot believe this, was washing my car yesterday and found that some idiot had scratched it, tried polishing it off, to little effect..it looks like possibly an egg stain or something...went out for dinner last night, parked my car, got home etc and it was fine...took it out of the garage this morning and OH MY GOD! someone last night has keyed my car right down to the metal...and the area we were in isnt the sort where u would see chavs lurking around im really upset as i dont want to go through insurance as im 17 and already paying enough on the cooper..any idea of how much a door respray would cost?

yeah the swirl effect can be 2 things either egg or bird poo..try a little t-cut for that..as for the keyed door it cost me £80 from bmw mini in manchester but mine went from the front to the back of the car so yours may be alot cheaper..

BMw would carry out a whole respray FYI but scratch repair by a external company are very good. I would go to a well heard of one not some back alley garage and get it touched up like chips away, and it will be almost good as new. Sorry to hear it though. My MINI was also keyed after 3 years of ownership and parking it in the same area some lout thought he/she would damage it. Its heartbreaking especially as I kept my paintwork pristine! Good luck with the fixes! I promised myself I wouldn't let another MINI owned by me be without a garage!

It's a relatively easy repair, and you won't see it afterwards. You'd never need a full respray for something like this (that would cost over £1000).

Hi there everyone,

Really sorry to hear about your car being keyed Drumzz! People can be so stupid at times.

To be honest with you i think its because your only 17 and your driving such a nice car! I had people bad mouthing me when i got my Mini at 17, its just so petty.

A few months ago i also had eggs covering my car, i was parked in a parking bay at the side of the road one night while i was out clubbing with a few mates, i came back and there must have been 5 smashed eggs on it, they had also stolen my aerial. EGG IS SO HARD TO GET OFF WHEN ITS DRY!

I havnt had my car keyed so far which im very thankfull for but i do have an egg swirl just bellow the windscreen.

Is there any CCTV where you were parked?

This is the egg swirl on my car..... thinks its because we are young mate!

Alex

This really P's me off!

Someone broke into Barry's Mini, and tried to steal his H/U - It was a face off, and the face was off, and with him well away from the car, so it was just a smashed window for him to sort out, and glass all over the car Jealous!

I wouldn't have thought an egg would do that much damage! Its just not on and I would like to see someone do this to anyones car and they'll see what fun it is to do this to other peoples property. I'm very sorry to see so many cars damaged nowadays. My sister had her chequered wingmirrors kicked ripped off and stolen twice. They scratched the car while doing this. Stupid!

Why do people do it?

We had someone pour a tin of baked beans over one of our MINIs this morning How pathetic.

Foxy how annoying! How far would they have travelled with the beans? Why? Do you have trouble with the neighbours?

Nope, dont have any trouble at all, so I have no idea why it happened. I want to laugh when I think about it, but then I just get annoyed again

so what would u reccomend is the best option? i just went down to the dealer who has roughly quoted me £500..he said it may be more ( he said he is going to post the full estimate tonight). this is even worse because the keying and the egg swirl are nowhere near each other..and he said since they are far off that it would be a full door respray along with blending on the rear fender and onto the front side panel/part of the bonnet so it blended in...what is the other way of getting something like this fixed so it looks nice and doesnt show even when u really polish the car up! thanks again, i cant believe it, its distracting me from all my a-level exams!

I say - when you aren't studying and stressing with your exams (good luck btw) take your car down to a local chip busters (or give them a ring) and arrange a quotation and speak to them. They are professionals and many people I know swear by them and I have seen some very expensive jags and BMWs fixed up by them with brilliant results. They may suggest you go and get it resprayed but tthis will be pricy. I would speak to chip busters, I took mine to a open day thing in tescos carpark one day and they quoted £150 for a few marks around the car.

The good thing is that the paintwork isn't down to the metal so it won't hurt the car and you can leave it for a bit and get a number of quotes and recommendations and when your situation is right you can get it fixed.

In the end I sold my MINI with the key mark still on the bum. Poor thing. Loved that car!
