I noticed that I had a oil leak from my car and a noise that i belive to be coming from my clutch
so i took it to warrington BMW to let them sort it out...they said the oil was coming from two places The gearbox and The engine ....they fixed the gearbox leak and said they couldnt find the one on the engine...they also said the gearbox was on its way out + the noise i keep hearing when i set off is the clutch on its way out.. Now im not being funny but ive had the car since january the 22nd..its has a years warranty cos i got it from the bmw and there saying i have to fork out for it to be fixed...ok bare in mind the car is a 53 reg so im not that fussed about the clutch..but the gearbox no way im just not happy at all..there is another noise coming from the engine aswell now...wot am i to do? any ideas? thanks
the car has 31100 miles on the clock ....they said some parts in the gearbox arnt coverd and the clutch is subject to wear so i would have to pay for that also .....£1300 they wanted for the new gearbox and they wanted £400 labour charge just to take it out and have a look at it....to be honest i think they maybe taking me for a ride..im 20 and went down on my own...
There taking you for a ride my friend! you should not be paying for that at all.
Thats why its a cherished car, i bought mine cherished and if i didnt then it would of been slightly cheaper, i got the cherished for peace of mind for a year.
Dont take anything lke this, go back to them if they dont agree speak to MINI customer services!
rang the customer services line and they said the same thing as the dealers...the labour charge is only free of charge if the part that is broke is coverd in warranty...
i asked him about the clutch he basically said its where and tear...
Still tho a clutch cost around £150 and you should not be paying for the gearbox as that isnt wear and tear! The gearbox and clutch will be out anyway when the gearbox is being replaced so the labour costs for replacing the clucth should be minimal!
