Gearbox

the gear box on my 2001 mini cooper has started to make a horrible winey noise through 1st and 2nd, 3rd is then fine, then when up to 5th is just really loud while going along.

so the question im asking really is what gearbox is in my car and what one do I get when it goes midlands or getrag??
And is there anywhere in particular I should buy it from i mean cheaper
