oil leak/ steering

Just notticed that my steering pump oil is leaking all over town. I checked the oil reservuar and confirmed it. I know my mechanic had told me about a loose hose but its been alright until now so i did not bother much. Now its leaking all the oil and i have to dig right in to it tomorrow to find out whats the problem. Noticed that the steering pump has been working hard to these last couple of weeks. Any advice much valued.

Fix this leak as soon as possible or you will damage/overheat the pump and have a much more expensive job to replace.........would have been best to do the first time you were advised by your mechanic, things don't usually cure themselves but get worse.

Just got back from the local trusted mechanic and he said it was not much to worry about as in fact it was not my car leaking all the effing oil it seems that one of my neighbours is ****ing the place. Still this afternoon will go to BMW dealer and have a chat there. See what they say and buy some oil to top up the reservuar. It seems to have lost about 15ml of oil from the dipstick.

Update!
Just picked up some oil from the local BMW dealer and they said that if the pump has been done before 2 years it will be done for free. But the engineer suggested that it might be the pressure pipes that is gonne! Anyway next wednesday i have the appointment. We will see how it goes.
