Is 122k miles too much to take on?

hi all.

Is 122k miles too much to take on?

Thinking of buying a Cooper and seen one for sale with the above mileage. It doesn't say its got FSH only that its had 'Lot's of work done', recently had new fanbelt, pulley and tensioner, starter motor and brand new gearbox & clutch last year along with 4 new tyres..

Worth a punt d'you think? Or is there more I can ask? Advertised at £3200.

thanks in advance..

Longstaff

average mileage for that age !!

really depends on how the car has been looked after/overall condition/number of owners/drivers/etc

maybe worth seeing it/driving it/speaking to owner, etc

OK, thanks for that Iain - its too far away to do that. I've spoke to the owner and it all sounded OK, as described. 4 hr train ride away.. Bit of a gamble... Just wondering if there was any other mechanical things I could ask about or indications as to whether engine is good..

How many miles do these engines go for?

many thanks..

I suppose it really depends on how well the car has been looked after.
I have a 2004 Cooper, i change the oil every 12 months and I only do
6,000 - 7,000 miles per year.
I use mobil 1 every oil change so, hopefully, my engine should be in great condition, even when it has high mileage.
Don't judge a car on mileage alone.
