Engine knocking/oil level problem...
My MOT is due shortly, and i went to start the car up. It doesn't get used often, as i work locally and walk to work. The car had been sitting idle for about 2 weeks, and the electricts would come on but the car wouldn't start. I had heard a knocking sound coming from the bottom of the engine and the dash told me there was an Oil level problem. I checked the engine oil level and it was actually fuller than i had expected.
I'm now seriously worried there is a critical fault with the car, it's a 2002 Mini Cooper, as was due to go to the team at Bodymek to have the worn tappets replaced (hydraulic lifters). What's wrong with the car, and is it even remotely safe to drive it without causing further damage? Any advice on this is greatly appreciated!
