R50 problems

[size="5"][font="Century Gothic"]Hi all we are new here having recently bought a 2001 R50 cooper, she was fine when we first got her but has developed a few niggles i,m hoping you guys can help with,

1, central locking is not working, never unlocked drivers door so used key, now car wont lock, the buttons drop and come straight back up, means alarm not set.

2,had a puncture (run flats) replaced tyre, now puncture warning light wont go out.

3, when it rains the drivers side carpet get wet in front and has a puddle in the back. passenger side is fine, (right hand drive) my thoughts on this is the door seal

4 the indicators would switch off but light on dash would keep flashing, Found a gap in windscreen rubber, sealed it with mastic and left dehumidifier inside for a while, all seems fine now.

5 car gets very wet windows inside, presume because its got a leak somewhere.

6 drivers side electric window doesnt always work, especially first thing in the morning.

thanks in anticiption

Did you reset the Tire Pressure Monitoring System after replacing the tire?
  1. Ignition key in position 2
  2. Press the button long enough for the yellow indicator lamp in the instrument cluster to light up for a few seconds
  3. Start the engine.

Hi ya

as caveman says for item 2

when you open your drives door does the window drop ?
it should drop 5mm its so that it clears the door seal

i think items 3,5,6 are linked i think you need a new window motor to start with.
you can change the motor on its own

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...71&hg=51&fg=10

the leaking in to the foot well i would most probably say is due to the window not closing after the door is shut or and baby adjusted window.

you have to get these leaks sorted out because you will damage your body control unit which is located behind the trim panel in you right hand foot well just below and just forward of your bonnet release.

i would think 1,2 & 4 could be related to the wet body control unit if the TPS does not reset.

remove the trim panel, disconnect the battery and remove the BCU clean and dry the pugs and terminals a good switch cleaner from maplins is what i use. the later minis cam with a plastic cover to help stop the water from trashing them.

item 9
