DIY central locking problem

Hi everyone!

Just bought a mini cooper 2002 as a second car, looks and drives like new. having just one problem- central locking. I can't lock doors( all 3 ) either with key fob or inside switch (works ok when unlocking)

Please give me some advice

I would suspect (but not 100% on this one) the drivers door lock mechanism they have microswitches in them which controls your central locking etc, if the drivers lock is faulty it is probably not sending a signal to the others. They are a common problem on the earlier minis I have had to change both of mine. They are available on eBay for around 65 for a new one (dont get 2nd hand or you will have the same problem) I would get it checked out properly first though before buying anything

My mechanic have an computer to read error codes. Do you think that it is possible to find whats wrong?

I don't think it would show up as an error code. If he has BMW software he can test modules in the cars system through his computer

Search on here for 'door actuators' which is a common fault.
