Jcw rebuild

Hi, looking for some advice on a 2003 jcw.. I work for a salvage company and I'm looking to buy a jcw with front end damage. The engine is knocking its nuts off and the mounts have snapped on the block. Is it possible to fit a standard cooper s engine into it and swap the super charger and head over or is it not worth it or possible?? Any advice would be great

The standard cooper s engine is exactly the same engine as the JCW & a few mods will give you the same or even more power than the JCW. The supercharger is exactly the same its only the pulley size that is different, a JCW will have a 11% reduced pulley but you can buy 15% 17% plus a few others to put on a standard supercharger. The later superchargers from I think 2004 had teflon coated rotors which have tighter tolerances so give a bit more boost (I swapped mine from older version to teflon version & gained 4psi boost) keep the injectors off the JCW engine as they are bigger & it may have a bigger valve head. The air filter should be different too but there are better ones out there than the JCW, also it should have a slightly bigger intercooler than the standard s. The ECU will also be mapped different. There is probably more but cant think of much more at the moment.
I have a standard s with a few mods...
17% supercharger pulley
Lightened crank pulley
GRS intercooler
Orranje stealth airbox
Fletcher cat back exhaust
VGS mod
Dyno'd at Lohen 217bhp
Since the dyno I fitted the teflon supercharger which has given me an extra 4psi boost so its probably over 220bhp now. So you can see how relatively easy it is to get up to JCW power with a standard s engine

Hi ya

Yes and no :-) the injectors on the mcs and jcw are the same unless you have the 210 conversion kit fitted. if the injectors are black blue there jcw210 if there a black and cream colour there's standard ones. any other colour you may be looking at a modded engine.
Jcw tuning kit (engine wise ) was head, sc and ECM coding.

Early sc (pre face lift r53) had a dark silver coating on the rotor they changed to a black coating on the rotor for heat dissipation on the face lift cars, the jcw sc have a 11% pulley as stated above. Basically more boost more heat, heat equals less power equals :-(

Does the rocker cover have a jcw serial number ?

As a quick ref if you want to know if you have a jcw/modded head if you place the exhaust gasket over the exhaust ports, if it's the same size ish as the ports it's a jcw or modded head if the ports are smaller it's a standard mcs head.

Hope this helps

The intercooler on a 210 JCW is the same as standard (it wasn't changed as part of the conversion). Only the JCW GP1 has a larger intercooler.
