Coolant/Radiator levels

Hi. Got a Mini One 2004 Auto. Just lately the fan has been kicking in a lot. I've put this down to bring stuck in traffic and it getting warmer outside generally. Fan goes off when driving as expected. Was going to check the levels of coolant (easy enough) but was wondering if I need to check the radiator level too. Read somewhere that checking / unscrewing will let air in and could cause a problem?

Hi ya

As long as the level in your expansion tank is good you should be ok to remove your rad cap when your engine is cold
Personally if the expansion tank is ok you should be ok.
