United-Kingdom automatic transmission fluid

I need to refil the automatic fluid on a 54 plate mini cooper is there a specific oil needed and how much do i need, Is there a guide on how you go about refilling it aswell?

excuse all the questions but i haven't got a clue about anything on one of these yet, but i am a fast learner

Not sure what a 54 plate MINI is as we don't refer to them that way here in the states, but if you've got a CVT you need special CVT fluid. Redline makes the correct product and it's supposedly better than the Esso fluid the car came with. DO NOT use regular old ATF in a CVT.

If you've got something other than a MINI with a CVT I'm not sure what it takes but don't assume that it takes ATF- find out for sure before you refill.

54 plate is a 2004 model over here i got the fluid from bmw over here 70gbp all in for 5 litres, do you know of any guides to refilling the box?
