Just wanted to let everyone in on what I found for the R50 mini coopers. Recently had my clutch go out and was in need of a flywheel, saw them at other for $400+ and I was like no way am I paying that much so my search continues... So I started looking and looking and I found a company called standard flywheels that make flywheels and only paid $45 shipped to me. I'm talking a brand new flywheel with no need to send a core back for $45 dollors!! The item came quick and had the same casting numbers and part numbers of the original. I have now had it on for about a month and no issues and shifts perfect.
Please look around for the part # 4502 from standard flywheels. On amazon it's like $30 plus shipping right now and on ebay the prices recently sky rocketed to a couple hundred since they now know what OEM goes for.
I live about 3 hours away from standard flywheels main office so if online the prices do get crazy just let me know and I will get one for you.
I'm hoping this info helps other mini members out. As for doing the clutch your self it is not very bad at all. I went with the LUK clutch kit from rock auto and that parts were stamped Valeo.
