Hi all this has probably been asked before but with 117 pages to sift through to find an answer would no doubt take the best part of a day so many apologies for dragging this up but my problem is the key fob unlock button split and broke off the micro switch underneath, I had a replacement key/fob off ebay so I've changed the blade and transponder and despite trying to pair the fob to the car according to a google search by unlocking the car manually getting inside car making sure all the doors are closed inserting ign key then turn on to pos 1 on the ignition and off within 5 secs then holding unlock button down press lock 3 times within 30 secs so far so good but it will not complete the lock/unlock test to indicate that the fob is paired so the question is and despite searching the interweb does my 2001 Bini need to go to a dealer to get this resolved or am I doing something wrong .... cheers guys I hope someone can offer some advice
I'm bumping this thread... I have tried to use the link that tells you how to sync your key with the mini bc1 but its not working, I have also tried to do the turn key to position 1 etc etc and that also does nothing!
PLease can someone suggest anything else?! Or do I need to take the key to a dealer so they can programme the key again!
Grab a cup of tea- there's lots to read here. The long and the short of is that a replacement key (the remote part of it) that you can get on eBay is not easily reprogrammed without computer programs, coding and technical know-how.
You might have luck trying to do the in-car reprogramming but it's a real long shot. Your original remote board is easily repairable and I should be able to put together a working key in a brand new case for you for not much $$$.
Let me know if you need my services. I've done many of these keys because it is so hard to reprogram a remote board that has come from a different car.
You can search for my key repair thread at North American Motoring- I post under "valvashon". See what I can do and read praise from those whom I have repaired keys for.
