Wales How many miles out of a tank of petrol

Hi everyone,
Would have had my Cooper three weeks now on Saturday. Seems to drink petrol much more than my Saxo VTR. I am getting around 280 miles out of a tank on my Cooper. Where on my Saxo I used to get 360 miles. The saxo had a 40 litre tank I think. I remember the MPG figure being better for my Cooper than Saxo.
Just wondering how many miles u get out of a tank from your Coopers.

All the Best

260 miles out of 38 litres - about 32mpg... mostly in city driving.

I have had mine for just over a month and have noticed that mine uses far more fuel than i expected it would. Then again I do most of my driving in a city (Leeds) and rarely have chance to get out of third gear.

I have been getting on average 110 miles to half a tank of fuel (having rarely let the car drop too far below half full). So if both sides of the fuel guage are equal i am only getting around 220 miles to a tank.

While taking my car to the dealers for a minor warranty fix I asked them to check the engine management system to see if anything was wrong but nothing was found.

If it is a brand new car the engine may loosen up during the run in period, maybe giving slightly better fuel consuption.

I get 290 miles out of a tank. The O.B.C. reports an average of 34.5 mpg and I also put the info in a spreadsheet and that reports an average of 34.3

According to the OBC in my S Iam getting between 30 and 35. Thats on a reasonable mix of driving. This could alter though. Just about run in so now at long last able to open the tap a little.
P.S. I use Optimax and according to the hype it is supposed to help peformance and fuel economy. Anybody got proof?

On a recent business trip thru' Shropshire and the Welsh borders driving along A50/M6/A5/A49 and a few others, with many stops along the way, my Cooper with a full tank of Optimax gave me a 3/4 reading of 276 miles, so thats roughly about 36/38mpg. Also once I got back on the A50 coming home I was doing a steady 75-80mph

So I am hoping for about 320 miles when she needs filling up again

My average is about 290-300 to a tank on optimax. OBC always sticks around the 31mpg mark (reset at every refuel) however did a run from Edinburgh to Newcastle down the A68 last summer and the OBC was quoting me over 400 miles range - that was based around speeds of 60-80 depending on how close the cameras were!

I'm sticking with optimax for the performance, however i can't agree its improved my economy as it just encourages my to play more!
