Welcome to the ' Club'.
Enjoy the 'Pick up day' By Jingo you will.
I assume that by 'run flat wheels' you mean whatever wheel's you have selected on all four corner's 16" or 17".
Certainly not the 'Spare' which is a 'Noddy' car wheel.
The standard wheel's , Whatever size you have selected
should take any range of tyres available from current supplier's.
A feel that I should tell you about a phone call from my dealer that I received while I was awating delivery !.
I was a little bit concerned about having NO SPARE WHEEL in my order as I kept thinking , what happen's if the 'RUN FLAT SYSTEM ' fail's when i'm in the middle of nowhere ?.
Strangely as it migh't seem while deliberating about this problem I got a call from my dealer advising me to purchase the 'DUMMY' spare wheel as they had hear'd of a customer who's run flat tyre had not only 'GONE DOWN' after a puncture but 'Disintegrated' and the alloy wheel was destroyed as the poor person attempted to return to a garage !!.
Buy the 'Spare' it's not expensive and whatever size of wheel you have chosen for your 'Babe' you shoul'd find no problem getting new rubber as required .
The concept behind runflat tires is nice, but I thought about the worse cases, like being very far away from civilization and I ordered the 'spare' with my mini.
I saw in the forum that it was cheaper to order it with the car than after. So thanks to this forum for the incredible source of info about this car.
Anyway, since we have some snow in Switzerland, I ordered a second set of wheels with winter tires (15" regular 8 holes wheels). Those are non runflat ones, so spare one is an obligation.
I saw it and I took a picture. I will post it this evening when I will be at home. There was not a lot of light, so I don't know if the quality of the pic is good.
I talk with the dealer a lot about the mini. I asked him about his experience about the mini (he drives one since the beginning) and the faults. He told me about the windshield and others faults that now are corrected.
I asked him about the phantom aux input. He said that they looked too and that doesn't exist.
I live in Lausanne and I work in Geneva. So I bought it at Emil Frey in Geneva. It was easier to go there for all the paper since it at a 10 minutes walk from my work.
For the price of the 15" wheels and the snow tyres, I think that I paid a bit more than you. I remember that I paid the regular price for the wheels (in the accessories paper)and that I had a discount on the tires. As you know they always give you a dicount on tyres. So, I don't think that I got a good price. I will check for exact price this evening.
For the spare I think it was if you take it when you order the car something like 40fr.- (not sure, will check)
Cool...I live and work in Lausanne, just moved here from London. Will be glad to hear your views about your dealer. I went to Fribourg and, very nice sales guy but useless at fixing the niggles. Do they have anyone who speaks English down there?
If you ever see a Silver and black Cooper with non standard 15", flashing its lights at a BRG Cooper with with everything.... that's me!
Thx for info on wheels/tyres. There is a whole brochure here in Swiss for Mini for winter wheels/tyres combo. Starting from 323SFR to something like 580SFr each for 16" beauties.
Sorry you have to wait till Friday! I know the feeling... but all good things comes to those who wait!
The only thing prettier I can imagine than a BRG/W is a BRG/W in Switzerland. You live in the most beautiful country! I burnied up more film in two days in the Lauterburnen (I know I spelled that wrong) than in most of the rest of my trip to Europe put together!
Can't wait to see pictures!
