Thinking of getting an R50

I'm looking to pickup a MINI as a daily driver. Anyone able to give me some real world mpg figures for the Cooper? And how they might differ to the 1.6 One?

Also, in terms of performance, is the One making less power due to the ECU/TB opening limited compared to the Cooper, or is it mechanically different too?

Lastly, how much of a pitfall is the so called "Midlands" gearbox? If memory serves this is the old Rover R65 unit used in the Metro/100's isn't it?

I believe circa 2005 car got the Getrag 5 speed box, is there an easy way to ID a Cooper (or One) with the latter box?

an mpg figure is figured out in a lab with the said car in un lifelike scenarios.

i wouldn't really rely on them.

my 02 mini one does around 35mpg city and 43mpg motorway i found this out with a calculator
a cooper will do around the same depending on the type of driver and the said conditions.
