My MINI is a cammel and a S Class!
I was returning from the coast (Balito) at 5:30am and decided to gun it back to Johannesburg(home). So I filled up the car with gas and headed home changing gears at 6000rpm. Once in 5th and on a long straight road I was doing 200km/h (speedo)for around about 90km. For a full hour and a half the car was doing above 160km/h. Therefore not less than 5000rpm. I could see the fuel indicator dropping at a rapid rate, remember this is a 1.6L. I got 320km out of a full tank of gas because of that driving manner. After that stop and another full tank of gas I drove at 4500rpm (140km/h) for the rest of the way and got 495km out of that tank. I want to get 600km out of a full tank by changing gears at 3000rpm. WIll it work?

While travelling at those speeds the car felt as smooth and as quite as my dad's Benz. I was so impressed by how composed the car was.

MINI, it is a way of life.

600km is easy. You don't even have to shift at 3000RPMs. 120-130km/h will get you over 600km per tank. If you stay at 100-110km/h you can do much better, especially if you stick to 3000RPM or less per shift.

Every once in a while I think to myself, "I should drive slow this tank to see how good I can do" but the car is so much fun that I don't last long at that pace...

I agree with you fully. For the past ten days i have been stopping mself from going to 6300rpm. It was so hard so tonight was my reward. After covering 610km on a full tank, I redlined everygear and realised how powerfull my cooper is. I LOVE IT
