Talking Trading In My 2003 CR/W for 2004 PW/B!!!

I'm sorry but I'm just giddy w/ exitement and if I don't share I'll burst! I just palced an order for a 2004 PW/B MC w/ sunroof, bonnet stripes, tarten red interior upholstery , anthracite, leather steering wheel, sport seats, xenons, Harmon Kardon, white side turn indicators and chrome bumper inserts. I think I've almost got the specs right. I'd still like the leather but I'm not really crying, it's not like they have anything in red. I'm getting $15, 500 for the trade in (would have been $16, 000 if I got a 2003. They didn't have any so not really much of an option.). My current MC is a 2003 CR/W with rear spoiler, chrome bumper insert and 16" five star design run-flats and (*#@&$*&@^ leatherette. BLECH!!!

The trade in price seems good to me but I'm a sucker in these matters. The car cost me approx. $17,300.00 PLUS handling fee & sales tax. THat's what gets me I'm never sure how all this is supposed to be figured out I'm going to have to pay another handling fee on my new MC but my mom says that sales tax is only paid on the difference in a trade in. So I guess I have no clue on how much I really "lost" (best calculation would be only about 11%! )

I was thinking of trying to sell it myself. It couldn't hurt to stick a sign in the window for the next few months, but it seems obcene to ask someone for more than $15, 500 on on a 2003 MC w/ 7,500mls on it . I just couldn't ask that much. Obviously I'd NEVER make it in sales.

With the money you're losing in this transaction you could've gotten an S. However, I"m glad you're happy and enjoy the newer car!

Maybe but it would have been a barebones MCS w/out a sunroof, xenons, bonnet stripes or Harmon Kardon. And then I would be right where I am trading it in because I'm missing the little extras.

Enjoy it Monica - the second is as exciting as the first - maybe even m ore so as you know what to expect

Trade-in seems reasonable but it never hurts to look for a private sale

Do you know what's sad? I offered to give my mom my MC and all she had to do is take over the payments (only about $6,500 left!) and it was hers and she said NO! THey're FORD people to (IMO) an unhealthy extent. She really wants a Taurus!?! Heh? Say what?

Monica, no spoiler on your new MC? IMO they look funky without one.

great specs on your upcoming MC PW/B...That's the one my wife chose too. We had a choice of all the metallics and still kept the white (free option in'04).

The trade in sounds quite good...if you're comfortable with it, it's simple and clean transaction.

we optioned it so close to the MCS (PW/B is available in '04 on the MCS now) that I was willing to pay the difference but wife wants a CVT. Her drive to work is full of UP HILLS so it's too daunting to learn...go figure Although after reading the excellent thread on CVT's here it's more reassuring choice.

as a commuter, I can fully appreciate the OPTIONS...it's all about the sunroof, sports and HIDS when you live with the car.
