| Apparently the car loosens up a lot up to 10k and beyond. My car seemed to loosen up a lot over the weekend, as I added a further thousand to the 3000 miles I'd already done over the course of the Nurburgring trip. I reckon the car's still got a bit more loosening up to do too. |

| The car takes a long time to really break in. Mine broke in some after 1200 miles, more at 3000, 4000, 5000 even 6000 miles and above. It is a completely different car once it really breaks in. This is probably why some Cooper owners are disappointed by test drives of unbroken S's -- by break in I'm sure they're faster but new it might be a toss up, especially if kept to under 4500RPM. Harry MINI Cooper Cabrio: now the car with go cart handling really feels like an open go cart! | There are steps in the performance hike, 2k, 4k, 6k, 8k, thats about as good as it gets. Its the same with BMW's, so I reckon its a BMW design feature. We've had about 6 cars since launch + Beemers, and they all seem the same |

| you are also adjusting the the MINI, a lot of peoples first reactions are they are underpowered because they are coming from a much bigger engined car before. Once you've been in your MINI for awhile you adjust to working with what you have. Break-in also does not magically end at 1500miles |

| The MINI adjusts to you too. The fly-by-wire throttle position mappings are learned. If you floor it all the time it really does become easier to rev as it gives more gas. | I saw the odo roll over 21,000 miles today, since March (this year!). My Cooper is now much more free flowing, goes best at 4000+rpm, and I like to tease Golf GTI's ![]() Oh, and the PlayMINI exhaust helps too... Lee |

TOTALLY agree, mine just hit 2K and what a difference (and yes I did run it in correctly even though the dealer said don't worry about out!) From above the only car i'll say it lets pile on the miles, anyone out there with moon miles on a mini yet to see what the perfromance difference is - if any? Cheers going out in mini now! |
