| break in procedure MC engine It is advised in the manual to vary speeds and keep rpm's under 4500 miles for the first 1200 miles. Is it then OK to kick down and run it up to 6000 at 1201 miles? Or go to 5000 rpm for 300 miles,5500 for 300 miles and finally to 6000rpm,kickdown and full throttle starts. Is it possibly better for the engine to start running it hard after the 1200 mile break in. Got about 4 weeks left and enjoying anticipation. Thanks   |

| There are at least ten or fifteen break in threads over the past few months. Do a search and you can read all the opinions, including mine, which says to just take it a little easy, but don't religiously adhere to any hard-core numeric limits. Break in on modern cars is non-critical unless you do something really stupid like take it out and run it at top speed for an hour. - Mark |
