Red Cooper Unlocking and Windows

Just thought id see if anyone has heard of this before.........................

I found out the first day I got my Cooper (22/03/04) that if you hold down the mini badge to unlock the car on the key fob, the windows come down. Thats a nice liitle feature i think, until i came to close the windows!

Thinking fairly straight, i thought i'd reverse the process and hold down my lock button on the key fob. 5 mins later i was still stood there trying to get the windows to come back up! i looked in the manual and it doesnt state specifically this sort of thing, but does state that things like this can be turned off my MINI serice.

Any idea's guys? Ive only had a few post so far but you've all been so helpful thought i'd seek your professional opinions

They all do that Sir

The inability not to put the windows back up again is a major pain in the ass, but it's so us idiot MINI owners don't chop peoples fingers off (even though you have to hold the button, so are in as much control as if you sat in the car and pressed the buttons )

Full closure works, but you need to use the key in the door. Turn to lock and hold, and presto, up go the windows (and roof closes, if you have one, I think).

I use it in the summer as it's easier than closing the windows before getting out of the car. Damn, I'm lazy

I wonder if it's a legal reason for not being able to raise them from the keyfob as my last car (Jaguar) could only raise them via the key too. I would be surprised if the makers didn't put in this function if they could.

Its really odd beacuse my mates Audi does it from the fob without any problems at all

Thats why i was a bit miffed when he was stood there and it never happened...............

Whilst talking of key fobs, does everyone get one key with buttons and one without?

Just wondered if i'd been ripped off by only getting one key with the buttons on!

apparently it's about safety incase some1s heads hanging out of the window, you lock the car and squash them. thats why the passenger window isn't 1 touch.

I was given two identical keys (both with remote locking functions) and one small flat plastic key (the dealer called it a handbag key) when I picked up my car last weenend.

When did you collect get your car?

I thought electric windows were designed to stop if they hit resistence, much like a revolving door? besides, someones neck wouldnt give before the motor unit would have been a great way to catch theifs.
