DIY gas mileage during break-in - 33mpg in town? also, a tire question

The OBC is telling me 33mpg for this tank, and it's all in town. I might think the computer was wrong, but I have 340 miles on this tank and still more than 1/4 gas left. I thought I was supposed to get less than stellar mileage during breakin? Oh well, I'm not complaining. My first tank was around 200 city/120 highway and put in 11 gallons, but I suspect that the dealer did not have the tank full when I took delivery as the gauge immediately dropped below full. This tank, it stayed above full for a really long time, like 70-90 miles, and I did not top the car off at all, I stopped when the pump automatically stopped.

Also, once the as gauge gets to 1/2, it goes down to 1/4 really fast, like 10-15 miles, is this normal?

I'm not babying the car, either, I've been over 4500rpm several times by accident (heavy flywheel, feels like) and once on purpose.

BTW I've had the car for one week now (24 May 04 the best day of my life) and have 632 miles on it.

My only major complaint is that the tires are not very grippy at all. Shifting briskly at 4000rpm I routinely burn rubber, and the tires complain noisily if I take corners at quickly. It likes to slide as well, heel/toe downshifting with DSC off sent me across 3 luckily empty traffic lanes, looked cool as all getout I'm sure but cost probably 5 bucks worth of rubber. The tires like to roll over also, they're really wearing on their outside edges/shoulders.

They're Goodyear Eagle NCT 5 runflats, 195/55/16.

Love the car, going to go drive it now

Hi....I was doing the same milage on the obc when I first got my coop around town....on a run one day I actually got 52 mph!...now Im averaging about town around 34-36 mpg..
I have noticed as well it goes down quick from half to quarter, must be the shape of the tank I suppose.
