What should i do?

i've definately decided the cooper is the car for me. but i have two options and i'm not sure wot to do, please help!

1. i buy a new cooper (05 model) with 17" wheels, chili pack, cd player, alarm and MFSW for about £14500. but i'm gona have to wait bout 9 months till i got enuf money to do this!

OR

2. buy a year old cooper for about £1300-13500 wiv all the above options but also air con, AST, and a few other little extra's within the next month or 2.

I'm impartial to which model i prefer, i love them both! So wot do you think i would be better off doin?!

Decisions, decisions......

When I bought mine, I was faced with about a 4 months wait and decided that whatever the wait I didn't want to wait that long and miss the best part of the summer

Therefore I scoured the Mini Cherished websites plus all the local dealers and auto trader papers to find what I really wanted, knew what spec I wanted, what I was prepared to compromise on and found the car I wanted fairly quickly.

There are plus points for and against in my opinion and the only person who knows best at the end of the day is you. I'm sure its great to spec it all from the dealer exactly to your requirement, but as I found out there are cars out there with all one wants on them -- its just a case of patience and hard work to find them..

I wouldn't swap mine for the world now, absolutely love it to death and I can't think there is any other option I would have really wanted on the car now, in fact if I had specc'd the car myself as new would probably have ended up spending a lot more on it

Good luck with whichever route you take

This is the first car ive had to wait any length for (except about a month when my cabrio sat waiting for the Y plate to be launched), but it didnt bother me.. I had another car so the pain was eased.. but 9mths is an ageeeee...

however.. there is much to be said for having a car built to your exact order.

I would strongly advise you to get insurance quotes now rather than later, as I suspect it would cost a lot more insuring a new car at your age.

If money is no object, and you do not mind the wait, then I would go with a new car. To me, it means something special to own a car from new

Nothing really beats the experience of picking up a brand new car. However, 9 months...ouch. I waited 4 months for mine and it was bloody agony. I don't think even MINI2 would have held me together over that length of time..

Buying a brand new car is so awesome -- I'd wait for that experience!

Brand new for me too.I had a brand new classic mini in 1989.(have had about ten old shape minis over the years)it was the worst car i've had for things going wrong.Swore never to buy new again. Then after watching Top Gear Mr quentin Wilson persuaded me to buy a Daewoo Matiz.Irrespective of what people think of the car the fact that it had 3 years warranty and servicing was very reassuring and it was fantastically reliable.Jan 2003 I bought a MINI ONE and its been brilliant.I love that feeling of going to pick up my new car and it having only a couple of miles on the clock and the smell you only get from a new car.I must be hooked cos i've ordered another one .The residules (is that how you spell it)are so good that i would be daft not to change it,and it will only be 20months old when it goes.Going to get that 'picking up my new car feeling' again on the 1st or 2nd September. So to summarise......Buy new....your mate will be green with envy when you get your brand new MINI.....you'll just have to take up a hobby to pass the time..what about basket weaving?
