Decisions, decisions......
When I bought mine, I was faced with about a 4 months wait and decided that whatever the wait I didn't want to wait that long and miss the best part of the summer
Therefore I scoured the Mini Cherished websites plus all the local dealers and auto trader papers to find what I really wanted, knew what spec I wanted, what I was prepared to compromise on and found the car I wanted fairly quickly.
There are plus points for and against in my opinion and the only person who knows best at the end of the day is you.

I'm sure its great to spec it all from the dealer exactly to your requirement, but as I found out there are cars out there with all one wants on them -- its just a case of patience and hard work to find them..
I wouldn't swap mine for the world now, absolutely love it to death and I can't think there is any other option I would have really wanted on the car now, in fact if I had specc'd the car myself as new would probably have ended up spending a lot more on it
Good luck with whichever route you take
