how this for a delivery time?

Hi guys,
Trading in our 03 red Cooper today for a new Cooper in electric blue.
We were expecting a delivery date around mid Jan but were very surprised
to be told it'll be ready on December 7th. Wicked!!!
I put this down to a lot of
people wanting '05 registration or is delivery always this quick coming up to
Christmas? We also asked about an ipod conversion, but this is only available
in th US apparently.

Sounds like your dealer has good allocation.

I ordered a cooper a month ago and have a date of mid december - and I was happy with that!

Thats excellent on both counts. Just by way of example I ordered my S at the start of September and delivery takes place on 17 December 2004 and that was on the basis that the car was taking up one of the fast track BMW Service allocation spaces...so your delivery times are very quick!

When i ordered my 03 MINI ONE it only took five weeks.I ordered it the week before Christmas 02 and i recieved it on the 29th Jan 03.However ,i ordered my 05 MINI ONE on the 29th June and didn't get that until the 13th September (10 weeks).Allocations always confuse me,i suppose its what we have to go through to get our 'made to measure' MINIs.I think the wait adds to the experience though and you forget how long you've waited as soon as you have taken delivery.

When I ordered mine it started off as 17th December delivery then came down to 10th Dec and is now the 1st of Dec only 16 days to wait.

Am I getting excited or what.

Dec 7th will still seem like an eternity. Is the short delivery time due to being incoming dealer stock or did you custom order it?

It was custom ordered and we were told that we could not amend the spec
after Nov 15th. We did not have to make any compromise on spec to get
the quick delivery time (unlike on my BMW a year ago).

Just a quick update to this thread. Just had a call from Vines at Gatwick
and the car has arrived!!! Pick it up on Thursday.
Ordered on Nov 11TH - delivered 16 days later, how's about that then!!!

-> 5 months for my 02 Cooper
-> 12 months for my first 02 Cooper S
-> 4 months for my 03 Works

Must have been a cancelled order, they couldn't build a car that quick.
