Miles per tank Cooper

hi. just a small question. what sort of mileage are people getting out of there Cooper. i have a 2004 Cooper. mileage can be anywhere between 250 - 350. i know the style of driving effects the petrol consumption. has any one tried optimax or similar?
other than that the car is ace looking at a Cooper S next!

thanks

I use optimax religiously and get about 350 miles per tank (i think) sometimes a bit more sometimes a bit less.

not sure how far on a tank but i'm averaging 34mpg with just over 1100 miles on the clock using almost exclusively optimax.

My Cooper fuel consumption varies wildly:

Around town (5 mins to work), 5 miles to the gym, etc. I'm averaging 230 miles/tank, approx 24MPG.

On a long drive recently (250 miles each way) I got 50MPG cruising around 65 MPH, that works out at over 500 miles/tank.

I'm currently looking into a CooperS too, but the fuel economy scares me, if I'm only getting 24 MPG around town in my Cooper, what's it going to be with a supercharger slapped onto it?

Well it depends on how heavy your right foot is.... I've had 21mpg tanks out of my MCS around london...it might be a brilliant car, but its ******* thirsty!

in a mixture of driving styles and roads i almost always get 350miles but i do run it till the trip says ---

however once on a trip to brighton full of slow moving traffic i got 454 from the tank and it still had three litres in it. it was a very light foot that day!

moral of my tale. drive carefully and you can get 40+mpg but use all the revs then below 30mpg

I get 330 miles from a tank of optimax and 300 if I ever have to use the ordinary stuff. The extra miles just covers the extra cost of optimax, so I am left with the benefit of a cleaner engine and better performance - and it is better performance too on optimax.

PS I am a Peanut Groupie and have no affiliations with Shell whatsoever!

Thank god I'm not the only one. I mostly do town driving and I only ever get about 210-250 miles from a tank (from full to red light). I was beginning to think it was a problem with the car.

Apple is a standard Cooper with 17in S spoke wheels, and I have the auto air con permanently set at 16 deg C throughout the year, turn it down to "Lo" when it is really hot, and I get on average 7miles per litre of fuel

That's 259miles from full tank to the red light coming on (about 13L left in the tank), and the lowest milage I have done, is 192miles, while on holiday in France, needless to say, I was doing quite a bit more than 110kmph
