Allow myself to introduce myself (first time poster here)
Hello Everybody-
I just thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself as I know I'll be wasting massive amounts of time here, posting and learning over the next good amount of years
I'm just finishing school at Northwestern University in Evanston Illinois (right north of Chicago) and will be living in Chicago next year. When I was in High School I opened a car detailing business (if you have any car cleaning questions I'd be happy to give my opinion) which made a poor college student like myself enough money to waste it on cars. Three years ago I put down a deposit on a 2000 Audi TT Coupe and after taking delivery 2 years ago have enjoyed that car very much. I frequent the Audiworld Forum and have been able to learn a great deal about the car and make friends with people all over the world. I hope this place is the same way!
So, after checking out the spy photos on the new Mini I knew I'd like to have one but didn't know if I could do it. Needless to say, I put deposit on one about a year ago and a few months ago had the opportunity to pick up a Cooper S at MSRP. I spent all day driving both the S and Cooper and while performance was nice, I had reasons for going with the cooper and knew I could modify it (probably be more fun to strap on a supercharger, right? ) I declined the car (it was dark silver with blue interior and my TT is silver with blue interior...I don't need two cars the same color let alone two cars) So, long story short, I wanted a British Racing Green car with Tan seats and the cordoba coloring isn't available in a sport seat (which the Cooper S comes with std) so I went with that combo in a Cooper.
The car should be here sometime in June and I got to completely spec it out. I can't wait till it gets here so I can rip it apart and start on it
This forum has been very helpful so far and I can't wait to read it and contribute over the next several years. The community seems so strong already...reminds me of the Audi TT folks.
Ok, so I just wanted to say hi!

(kidding , but I just saw the movie About a Boy...ok, ok, I know I should be seeing movies like that cause I'm a dood but the Audi TT is in it and I went with a hot lady, and the mate comment just reminded me of the movie and 'bugger off' is also used alot. I need some sleep, huh? )

Don’t have a Mini yet, but hopefully will be getting one in the near future. Was looking to buy one about now, but plans were shifted back when my wife’s Nissan 240sx was totaled, and I was forced to buy her a new car. Now she has a 4-door ‘family car’ in the 2002 VW Golf which opens up the door for me to get a mini.
Looking at getting the Mini Cooper in Silver or Indi blue, black roof and mirrors, (though the Velvet red with white roof and mirrors looks really nice), Premium and Cold package, and possibly Sports package (or at least the seats and spoilers, possibly DSC as well). I really like the 15” wheels with 7-hole design, so more then likely I will just be grabbing what I like out of the Sports package.
If this forum turns out to be anything like the TT forum I follow, I won't even have time to sleep...I'm on there several hours a day!! btw, I hope this forum grows and more and more people start to post.

Welcome, I'm pretty new to the forum as well, only joined last week. I'm taking delivery of my Mini next weekend, can't wait. I've got the pages of the brochure (book) worn out looking at it.
Cheers
