restrict door opening

Is there a way to restrict/reduce how far the passenger door will open on my 05 MCS? If I could only reduce the amount it opened by just a bit, it would keep it from wacking the other car in my garage.

Try removing the other car from your garage Your MINI is entitled to every inch of space in your garage

I was horrified to hear your MINI is in danger of being damaged in your own garage , so I started thinking of a solution like they used in the classic Minis. This is a strap made out of seat-belt material which mounts between the bottom of the A-Pillar and the door. You could shorten the strap to what ever length you wanted to create the correct door opening limit.

But of course you would have to drill holes in the MINI to do something like this, so this really isn't an option.

...so why don't you get the missus to sew-up a similar strap-like-arrangement which you can slip over your head and right arm to stop you from opening your door into the adjacent car

....Or just glue a big bit of foam rubber onto the adjacent car's door. I know it will look stupid, but this is the MINI we are talking about here rpgsat (unless the other car is a MINI too)

I find using my hand/wrist/arm I can open the door and manually control the amount it opens to avoid hitting any nearby vehicles. Worth a try?

.......

.......unless you have a low roofed garage

I kinda like Paul's suggestion, particularly as it is portable to other situations, like car parks.

There is a simple solution to this problem, one car goes in to the garage nose first and the other tail first.
To avoid any damage to the car doors attach a wooden bump board to both garage walls with a piece of felt stuck to the boards at the point where either door contacts the board.
This is a solution I use myself for my Cooper S and other BMW product!

Build a bigger garage so there is more room between the cars.

Or get a different car (for the second one). Our Landcruiser 4wd you can open the doors and it is so high that they go over the top of the MINI and miss altogether.

The MINI is so much lower that when you open the door it goes under the 'cruiser and misses too !!!

I like your style

Build a new level onto the garage and make a multistory...
