Need to remove door panels for window tint?

Hello.
I have an appointment to get my windows tinted tomorrow and I want to know if they will need to remove anything such as the door panels in order to apply the tint.
I would much rather do that part myself for obvious reasons...
TIA
Cheers
-John

There's no need to remove any trim to tint a MINI's windows (My car's windows were just tinted two days ago ) However, make sure you tell them your MINI has the window-drop-when-door-is-opened ( ) ) feature so they can deal with that. They should be familiar with that from tinting BMWs, but they may not expect it on a MINI.

Also, you may want to check this recent thread on tinting:

http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...&threadid=9606

And you should know there is an ongoing 'discussion' on this forum (Search for "window and tint") concerning the necessity of removing the all of the windows from a car in order to tint them. Some window tint shops in the UK insist this is necessary, the rest of the world knows it is not. This has been the subject of some good natured bantering between members.

Thanks Bruce.
I found that thread before I posted but I didn't realize it was 3 pages long.
Again, thanks.
Admins, feel free to kill this thread.

Just a quick note... mine removed the door trim to help them get to all of the front window. Could be done without, just seems easier this way.

Just a question: If you must remove the trim to get the portion of the window hidden by the trim, will that portion even be visible when the door trim is back in position?

I believe the edge of the tint has to be below the felt so that it doesn't snag.

I think as jmardy said, it's to stop it snagging on the offchance. It's also not difficult to do, so ensures that you're not going to leave a gap at the bottom at all...

My tint guy tricked the window drop system buy making the latch on the door so the window goes up all the way and then the rest was standard.

I live with fear everyday of my life and sometimes she lets me race and drive the Cooper.
